I was once in a car with a real estate millionaire. He started buying houses 40, 50 years ago, and now he has around 700 units, just for him, in his sole name.

And I asked him, how did you do it? And he told me: I started like this, and I bought like this, and I didn't have the money for it, so I had to take the loan.

And I asked him, 40 years ago, why do you think your classmates didn't do it? Because they could have been like you.

And he told me: you know why? Because the first bit is difficult. In my first years I didn't have much to live off, and I think those first years are the most scary for other people. That's why they don't do it.

Ask every person who made a lot of material abundance in their life: have you ever been broke before? And they will say yes.

There is no abundance in preserving

So if all you're trying to do is preserve the amount you have, you're never going to make any more. Because you're not going to allow yourself to be broke for your dream.

I have a limited amount of cash and I want to preserve it. I want to preserve it. I want to preserve it.

There is no abundance in preserving.

The scarcity we are bringing prevents us from having more. And we're not bringing it just to money. We're bringing it to sex, to communication, to relationships.

You cannot have more, because you already have this and you want to preserve this. So you are focusing on how to spend less money, and you are not focusing on how to make more money.

My lemon tree

What is abundance? Imagine abundance. What do you see?

I have a lemon tree. I have so many lemons. It's incredible. Not all throughout the year, but during the season I get so many lemons. And me and Eva, we don't need so much. So I collect them and I give them to my neighbors. One lemon tree.

My lemon tree
Our lemon tree

In each and every lemon I give away, there are seeds. Seeds to create more lemon trees, just like mine. If you plant one, after 30 years you're going to have so many lemons, just like I do.

This is how nature works.

What we often do is we take the fruit and we use all of it. We don't save the seeds. The reason we don't experience abundance is because we don't collect the seeds, and we don't nurture the seeds to make more of it.

Every single fruit you ever produced in your life has seeds to create more fruit. Maybe your thing is to write poems. Maybe your thing is to create businesses. But every single achievement, every single creation you made has a seed in it to make even more.

If you ever had one achievement in your life, something you produced that was amazing, go back and try to find the seed, and try to plant it to make more. Other people hired you, paid you, wanted you, invited you. This is the seed. You can repeat it.

Money is a promise

When you open your shower, you're not counting the drops. You use how much you need, you close it, and you know there is more if you ever need it. Yet with money, we count.

How can I make more money is a wrong question. How can I receive more money is a better question.

Money, according to research, originated when a farmer wanted some workers, but he didn't have anything to give them. So he took a ceramic, smashed it, and gave each worker a piece. And he said: come back at the end of the season, show me this piece, and I will give you wheat.

Money is a promise.

If you want to have more money, you need to give more. Did you hear me? You need to give more.

You're not a printer. You cannot make money. You can receive it from others. Or you can create better futures, and when people want your better future, they're going to give you money in return.

So the even better question is: how can I assure a better future for more people?

Create the fruit first

No, but I want to preserve what I have. Okay. So continue with what you do.

No, then I don't want to continue with what I do. I want to have more.

Oh, you want to have more? Give us more. Give us more and we will give you back. You give first.

First, the tree produces a very sweet fruit, and it's hoping someone will come take it, and throw the seed somewhere, and then it can reproduce.

First, create the fruit. Then use the seed. Remember this.

You need to make something valuable. Did you hear me? You need to create something that will help other people.

Shift your focus. Stop preserving. Start creating.

Creating could be scary. Those first years can get scary. That's why most people don't do it. Go after it anyway. Make the thing you want. Produce. Create. Make it work.

What do you think? I'm asking because I want to hear.

Scarcity Is a Lie

I asked a man with 700 properties why his classmates didn't do what he did. His answer is the whole story of abundance.
